Description

The original storyline, said to be inspired by the Shochiku Kagekidan, takes place in an alternate 1920s Tokyo. It follows the adventures of an all-female secret task force known as the Imperial Assault Force — Flower Division as they defend the Imperial Capital Tokyo against evil. They are led by Ichiro Ogami, a newly graduated Imperial Navy Ensign who had been assigned to the squad partly due to his unique ability to use a special type of armor that only women having high levels of spiritual powers could previously operate.

<report>I did the Saturn version on an emulator. Music is solid and the artwork is well done. The story itself isn't too impressive, but is a nice slice of life/mild drama. Sumire was the best girl and did nothing wrong, but all the girls are interesting. By far though, the WORST thing was the gameplay. Extraordinarily dull, slow moving and uninteresting. Its abyssmal, but if you can stomach it and have patience, you can ignore it and appreciate the humble story thats there.

<report>Good game. It's filled with love and joy, and has a lot of hidden depth that you can only really parse through the power of a fresh playthrough, creative choicemaking, and a strategy guide! Special kudos to the Kohran story, Sumire's backstory, and the fun little Maria/Kanna hints you can get if you really play the game right.

It has a special place in my heart as a very, very good VN.

<report>Sakura Wars is a great game. I love the whole concept of it, which is a mixture of a Visual Novel and a Strategy RPG. In addition to that, I also really loved the setting of the game, which is set in the 1920s.
Though the Strategy RPG segments are overall relatively simple, I think that they work really well for the game, and I honestly don't think it would've even necessarily needed a more deep and complex system for these segments. I at least still had decent fun with them, and in my opinion, they are quite enjoyable.
But what I really loved about the game were definitely all the Anime and Visual Novel parts. I totally like how the game is structured and divided into 10 episodes. With... Read more »
