Harukoi Otome revolves around protagonist Akihito Hayasaka, a male high-school sophomore. The high school he attends St. Francesca Academy used to be an all-girls school, and still has a high percentage of female students. <report>There's not much to say about it that other people haven't. For the most part, the routes are unnecessary melodrama that would easily be solved through the magic of communication. Riru's was the best, but even that was somewhere around a 7 or 8 at its peak.

<report>It's extremely rare for me to drop a VN, especially a Slice of Life one, and the whole "fancy and/or ex-girl's school thing" (Evangile, Kin'iro, etc.) is a personal favorite setting of mine...but Harukoi Otome really has some issues.

Every single route I played (I played three) was Happy - Sad - Climax - Sad - Climax - Happy (I didn't count the sad - climaxes each time), to the extent that it was exhausting to read as you'd be stuck in the depressing / climax cycle for so long.

That cycle made the first route I read a bit interesting (Ayaka), and I thought maybe it was only poor writing in her route, but the next two (Umi and Yuika) were more of the same, and it dragged beyond belief to the point where I can guess the stories from the tags in characters, and I'm okay with just that info.

<report>it's depressing, art is good, story is suck, My favourite character-F-U-Y-U-R-U-G-I K-I-S-A-Y-A [My Fav], N-A-G-I-S-A-W-A C-H-I-Z-U-N-A, {bad end} (choke me like you kill me), agh!! that's why I hate romance.

<report>Summing up Harukoi Otome is rather simple, but I will provide a detailed explanation after. Harukoi Otome is a VN with an innocent looking veneer, and a sunny, slapstick exterior during the common route, but dark, depressing routes that monotonously (and sometimes repetitively) drag out to the point that it's hard to appreciate the H art in any way.

It's a commonality that all routes share; you get into them, and you go on a roller coaster ride of drama, climax, drama, climax, etc. The main character and all heroines become very unsympathetic at times, and when some routes complete, you wonder just how the main character and the girl get together at all. Seems like they would need therapy... Read more »

<report>I finished the game only weeks ago and I just felt the need to vent my frustration here so other users won’t fall into the trap of expecting anything worthwhile or barely entertaining from this vn.

There are very, very few good things about Harukoi Otome I can think of. Some of the sad bgm was ok but some was just annoying and often misplaced in bits where characters resume their ‘slice-of-life mode’. The one barely decent route, in my book, is Riru’s with her constant fights with Arise Yuuki, who by the way was probably the best character of the entire game - yes, a side character turned out better than the heroines. Ayaka’s route was ok too, though that doggy bit was waaaay too dramatic... Read more »
