| Review | Uchikano: Living with my Girlfriend (Uchi no Kanojo) is a short (just under 4 hours for me) but sweet fluffy single route slice of life visual novel that is comforting and for better or worse has no surprises to it at all. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys fluffy slice of life reads that is looking for something comfortable rather than dramatic. Ultimately whether you like this VN - like all other single-route VN's - will depend greatly on whether you like the heroine in question, in this case Matoi Ayame. Uchikano is a bit bare bones - as most single route VN's are - in its presentation, the only characters that have sprites or are voiced are the heroines from all three Uchikano entries (this one, Imouto, and Koibito, so 4 characters), while everyone else at best is just a see-through outline. The protagonist does show up in CGs though. The BGM is minimalist and unobtrusive. Systems are standard compared to other VN's. Sexual content is fairly high (11 H-scenes per the in game gallery). The protagonist is a straightforward, inoffensive office worker who works hard and has no real defining characteristics outside of the standard being considerate and nice to everyone around them. Ayame is a deredere osananajimi type that is domestically inclined. In my opinion she is sweet without coming off as cloying which makes reading the visual novel easy and cozy in general as you want to see more of the interactions. For this VN Riho (sister, main heroine in Uchi no Imouto) is a support character and is some light comic relief when she shows up through the story, as well as providing some emotional support for the protagonist as well. The Uchi no Koibito heroines only show up momentarily in this title. Ultimately this is a worthwhile read if you enjoy fluffy slice of life visual novels and find the main heroine interesting. |
