| Review | absolute undisputed best girl: senri Chaos Child is a madness filled VN, following the same story as Chaos Head, which is superb in its own right. As its predecessor, it's very twisty and comes together beautifully at the end. I will compare to Chaos Head a lot, since I believe this should be played after that. The atmosphere and feel is well done, but does not capture the same oppressive feeling of isolation and fear. The art and voice acting is good, and the ost is amazing (kanako itou OP is an automatic +1). The pacing of the plot is well-done, and you never feel bored while playing. There's more involvement with the other characters, and routes involving the heroines, as opposed to Chaos Head, which is enjoyable (but as stated before, makes the VN lack the atmosphere of the predecessor). The routes range from full on delulu land, to "fuck, I want to kill myself", to just beautiful. I have to point out the annoying map mechanic, which is 90% brain-dead choices. I get the part about trying to bring in interactivity, but I feel this could've been improved. The ability to skip on replays would be great, since you'll be doing that a number of times. In the end, this is a great VN that'll make you pause in revulsion, cry in grief, and experience some amount of fulfillment and happiness. |
