ReviewIt starts off very much like Yuri 4-koma with some very short slice of life scenes without an overarching story. In general it’s very fast paced with nothing that could be called an introduction, abrupt scene transitions and very fast relationship development with slightly longer more involved scenes once the relationship get established. Despite its short length, it manages to pack a surprising amount of characterization in that time.

The second part is pretty much the same but a little more; generally longer scenes and routes, some mediocre drama and a nice subplot along with an extra character who turned out to be my favorite character of the VN. There’s just something incredibly charming and genuine about their innocence.

The VN has a few things that make it feel a little cheaply made; the overall story is pretty small scale with only a handful of characters and music tracks, the title screens before finishing are plain block colours, the routes end by very abruptly going back to the title screen without even cursory credits and scrolling up goes back a line instead of bringing up the log (as noted in previous writeups, something that was introduced in the English version), which is something that reminds me of cheaply made EVNs that are created with Ren’Py. Checking, it seems the VN is actually made in Ren’Py so it probably was made on a budget.

There’s quite a few H-scenes for the relatively short length but I actually liked the H scenes for once. Rather than transforming into porn actors, the characters shine through and the scenes worked well as character development. Overall, it just feels very natural as opposed to pornographic and fulfilling the mandatory H-scene quota.

The most notable thing is probably the third person narration with no protagonist; There’s a set of 3 friends and each ‘route’ involves 2 of them becoming romantically involved. The couple+friend dynamic makes for a nice novelty. Each pairing has its own charm and as a whole the cast works well together. A nice consequence of the format is that both parties in the relationship are treated equally; in most VNs there’s always a sense that the relationship revolves around the protagonists since you’re seeing things form their perspective. Otherwise this VN is pretty much what it appears to be: a solid fluffy Yuri VN.
