ReviewI strongly recommend you try out the trial before buying this game to see if it appeals to you.

Nukitashi made a huge splash in the eroge community when it was released in mid-2018 - the scores on VNDB, EGS etc speak for themselves for its perceived popularity and quality. I'm sure there will be loads of reviews on the good parts of this game soon enough, so I'm going to skip this talking about that completely in favor of what bothered me about the game's scenario enough to just... not finish it completely.

- The game wants to have its cake and it eat too with how it handles the outlandish premise: the protagonist and his team are only sensible people stuck in what is basically Mizuryu Kei Land full of oversexed young people. The island forces them to conform to some ridiculous rules (can't refuse sex when asked, can't keep having sex with just one partner, can't NOT have sex just because they don't want to) under the threat of being punished by forced sex or worse by the local peacekeeping organization. You just can't treat this premise seriously at all lest you start asking some very obvious, glaring questions (how come anyone gets anything done on this island if they keep having sex every waking minute?)... But then the game WANTS you to take it seriously and feel the main cast's plight at being the oppressed minority fighting for their freedom to stay chaste. I especially felt this was badly handled when the scenario brings up Asa-chan's lesbianism from time to time to make the reader feel sorry for her (since the island's laws do not recognize homosexuality) and it's hella sudden because it's never discussed meaningfully otherwise; just constant comedic drooling over Nanase that never goes anywhere. Same with how it's mentioned at the very beginning that the Tachibana siblings lost their parents in a tragic accident just a month before, which is what forced them to move to the island; this gets explained in maybe three lines and never gets brought up until 10+ comedic scenes later when all of a sudden Junnosuke is feeling emotional over their parents' death. Pretty much all of this serious, dramatic content falls spectacularly flat and the mood shift is jarring.

- The recurring stealth/running away/battle sequences are overdrawn and repetitive.

- Each heroine has a foil in a major SS member: for Nanase it's Touka, for Hinami it's Rei and for Misaki, Ikuko. They feature heavily as antagonists cum subheroines in each route. I'm not sure if the intent was to drum up interest in them for the eventual FD/sequel or it's jus the writer's personal bias seeping through, but I felt the SS girls were basically upstaging the heroines in their own routes in terms of screentime, meaningful interactions etc. Not to say they're not interesting but it felt like a bait-and-switch, especially in Nanase's route where Junnosuke has long, plot-important conversations with Touka while his relationship with Nanase is stuck at the barely-friends stage. (And then the sex scene with Touka happens, which I guess is sort of reverse NTR.)

- For a gag-oriented game, I honestly don't remember laughing much outside Misaki's route, which indeed was a riot. For the rest, barely a snort here or there.

That being said, it's definitely not a bad game. The visuals, sound & UI are polished to an astonishing level. The characters are generally a lovable bunch. I was particularly impressed by the way Asane was handled, knowing ahead she wasn't a potential love interest - she was likeable, but also just annoying and weird enough not to make the player feel cheated out of a route.

In general Misaki route is 100% the best that this game has to offer, so I recommend either keeping it for last (your motivation will be killed otherwise), or just doing it and dropping the rest.

< report >Woah! a vn from future, amazing! Still, vn industry doesn't seems to changed that much even at 2108.

Anyway joke aside my real question is this vn unavoidably forces you to h-scenes of heroines other than heroine you entered her route? Like what you are said about Nanase route?Last modified on 2020-09-06 at 17:08

< report >>a vn from future, amazing!

Woah, thanks! I should proofread more. Fixed.

As for your question, yes and it happens several times throughout the game. Nanase route is the only route where it felt NTR-ish though.Last modified on 2020-09-06 at 18:22

< report >When I played Nukitashi I was wondering for a long time where WE are the ones having sex... it was so normalized in the world but it still took so long for it to happen. Compared to let's say Hentai Shimai & Majime Orc where the character also desperately tries to stay celibate Nukitashi really took its core idea more seriously.

< report >So, in each route you get the main heroine and one of the SS Girls. Do you still spend sometime with the main heroine?Last modified on 2021-02-23 at 22:29

Oh, you do. At the very least, Misaki had a decent amount of cute scenes and ichaicha. Hinami route I only played ~50% of, and a lot of interactions with her were kinda blink-and-you-miss-it and/or group convo scenes, but I dunno, maybe it got better in the latter part of the route? Same goes for Nanase route.

< report >Thank you for telling me! I'm planning on playing Misaki's route last and the Nanase's first just to get it out of the way. Having 2 girls in each route does sound really interesting though, hopefully Misaki's route really is the best.

< report >Misaki's is the most 'ridiculous' so if that's what you're looking then I guess it's the best.

As far as the complete package goes for me it was behind all of them except Nanase's which I would agree is by far the worst. Which is a shame because Touka actually was a great character with potential. Potential that wasn't realized at all in the Nanase route unfortunately despite the focus she gets.Last modified on 2021-02-24 at 21:52
