ReviewTousui Kitan is basically a KeroQ game and it probably could be way more popular but they decided to release it through a doujin brand because there were some problems or something like that. And there is no direct confirmation but it's pretty safe to assume that the writer is SCA-Ji himself. Subarashiki Hibi is basically a continuation of the life and death theme you'll see in this game.

The beginning of the story will be familiar to many of you. Nagai Kirito used to live in the village but then moved to some city. After some time he decides to come back to the village and study its legends for his university. People are friendly and there is a really cute childhood friend... But you know that something is wrong.

You could see a similar premise with the MC moving to the village where he faces its mystical traditions in Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and a lot of other not so popular works so how good Tousui Kitan is? Is it worth it when you have such a big selection of this type of stories?

Well, I don't think we should judge works by their similarity to others or something, unless we're talking about a blatant ripoff. We should always try to look further and see where the author wants to go with each concept. How they mix ideas and how good they execute them in the end. But most of all, how enjoyable the work is. And I enjoyed Tousui Kitan for sure. I love this village theme so it's probably safe to say that you'll like the game if you love it too.

And when Tousui Kitan is good, it's really good. I like the atmosphere, interactions between the MC and Kanata, how pieces of the story nicely connect with each other, and voice acting. Illustrations and music are fine too, even though you can nitpick some rough CG or point out free music tracks. Overall, it's pretty cool for a doujin game from 2005 and I just wish for a more comfortable way to reach every ending.

But then, there are infodumps. They are not that hard or (this is important so don't be afraid) lengthy but there is quite a lot of them and it might be frustrating at times. This is my main problem with this game. It's still good but it could be even better.

Though, I still recommend Tousui Kitan to everyone who likes KeroQ games or this kind of settings in general. It's pretty short anyway.
