ReviewBased on season one of the anime chronologically but an original plot.
It's nice to see the interactions between the characters, especially ones that didn't get much interaction in the original series. The majority of the game is SoL snippets, chosen by heroine through the map screen, but which exact scene you get is chosen at random. Scenes are divided by time of day and by location, and for each combination there's one or two (a lot more if the location is classroom) scenes, and you can't see the same scene twice in one cycle. However, as there are more scenes than there is time in one cycle to watch them, you are forced into playing each heroine >2 cycles to try and see all the scenes/get all the items/grind enough keys for the Majikoi+ section, which gets old very fast (likely the worst part of the game). There were a couple scenes I couldn't get after 2-3 full cycles + attempts on other cycles so I gave up on them. Your R button (skip) will be mashed in by the time you've got full clear. Ruri's route is the absolute worst for this. For some obscure reason, only Ruri has the strange restriction of not being able to get keys (~~affection points) in scenes past a certain threshold until you've seen the next big event scene, and she's not always a choice on the map, which means it's much harder to grind points for her. Also, unlike the other heroines she has a lot of stealth sections in her big event scenes, which is really annoying to do repeatedly when grinding.

Aside from the VN sections, there are stealth game sections (Metal Gear style) which pop up here and there in the story, and babanuki (old maid i think is the english name but i've never seen this game outside of japanese media so idk). Stealth game is okay, but most of the time it's either too easy or too annoying. Babanuki is pretty much impossible to win because the AI pretty much never picks the joker (luckily unlike the stealth game you never have to win babanuki).

I got this game for 1.8k used (including 1 week shipping, but there was no case or manual) which was worth it for the money (especially because it was under the tax threshold here so I didn't have to pay import tax). You need to be able to read and write Japanese to play this game (not just because it's a console game, but you have to read, unscramble and input Japanese under time pressure), but you can always use a walkthrough for this. However, pretty much every line in the game is voiced (I think there are maybe 10 lines in game that aren't voiced, and half of the UI is voiced). It's a good game to start with if your Japanese is bad.

Conclusion: Game is good if you like Nisekoi and want more Nisekoi, but all the gameplay parts suck ass.
