It's always nice to see nods and references to "canonically" future events in the remake... Only if the monsters rosters was as expansive as the later entries, it would have been much betterLast modified on 2021-04-07 at 01:43 |

Is what kills the enjoyment in this game currently for me, as i'm playing it. I hope you guys are right and the writing saves this, because if it doesn't i will not rate it very favorably.Last modified on 2021-09-10 at 07:33 |

It's not important to understand the main story, but you won't know the character's backstory otherwise. Later games suggest you got all the optional content and don't bother explaining it again while making references or jokes about those events (again, not important but still funny). |

I would argue the character stories are the meat of these games and millie's questline is for sure one of the best in the game. So yeah a walkthrough and cheats are both things you want to use for this game to alleviate and speed up the grind. Even more so for 02 kai, because it is just a worse game overall.Last modified on 2021-10-27 at 10:33 |
#6 by vario 2021-10-27 at 12:00 | < report >I'd say there is no real need for grind in 01. The game can be challenging but still fair in terms of its balance. Also, I got enough exp/money while capturing all monster girls, so you might do this if you need to become a bit more powerful (again, there is a missable side quest that allows you to get a weapon with a sexual attack - the only one in the game that doesn't break after one use).
But 02 is all about grind since it's a JRPG from 1990. Kind of similar to Toushin Toshi 1 if you're familiar with it. |

I do have that and the second game on my list, but i got to be honest i have a hard time going back to 90s vns these days, hell 90s games in general for the most part. There are so many things that didn't seem to have hold up and jrpgs are on the very top of that list, so yeah i can see how rance 2 fell into the same traps back in it's day too.Last modified on 2021-10-27 at 20:02 |
#8 by vario 2021-10-28 at 05:04 | < report >It's still a cute short game and does some things a bit better than Rance 2. But I definitely can recommend Toushin Toshi 2. This game became a classic JRPG title for a reason and is fun to play even today (I finished it this August). |

I got the second game recommended specifically, but i usually do not want to skip numbered entries, usually. Maybe if it's set hundreds of years afterwards or something like that, i can?Last modified on 2021-10-28 at 13:06 |
