ReviewIkinari Anata ni Koishiteiru, also known as Ikikoi, is a heavily underrated VN; however, I can see why this is the case.

For Ikikoi, you have to go into the VN expecting the right things. I'm sure many people see Ikikoi, and the first thing they see is something like "Oh, this is the company that made Sakuuta/Atri" or "Oh hey, SCA-JI worked on this vn" and expect a game with a deep, comprehensive plot. However, Ikikoi has none of these. Ikikoi, at its core, is a comedy game. You read it for the comedy, the romance, and maybe the H, but definitely not for the plot.

The people that feel like they got cheated out of a good story with Ikikoi do indeed have a point. The opening(Slight NSFW warning), as good as it is, heavily implies that there's some sort of story going on in the VN. I assure you, it is completely misleading, and I would put it in a "Most Misleading VN OPs" category if I could. Additionally, there's points in the common route & heroine routes that seem like it's a lead up to something serious happening. Although there are some places where the drama does end up becoming somewhat serious, in the end the drama isn't any more drama than you'd see in a typical moege.

This does NOT mean that Ikikoi doesn't have its good points. The wacky comedy, which I might compare with VNs such as Lamunation!, will likely keep you interested throughout the common/heroine routes. Along with that, there are plenty of cute and funny scenes with each of the heroines. The routes vary a bit depending on the heroine, and while some routes may be slightly unorthodox, none of them are outright terrible. On top of all this, the soundtrack is stellar, and the art is KeroQ/Makura art, which I am personally a big fan of.

Now, this is the part where I talk about the H. If you're not interested/don't want to get spoiled by this part, feel free to skip this part of the review and just look at the conclusion. Ikikoi, in total, has 24 H scenes. Out of those H scenes, there's two things of note. First of all, EVERY HEROINE HAS A MASTURBATION SCENE. For one heroine, 4 out of their 8 H scenes are masturbation scenes. Yuzusoft with their "3/4 heroine onani" should take a note from Ikikoi's book. Second of all, there is a female-fisting-male h scene at the end of Ryou's route. If that's not something you feel comfortable with, feel free to skip it when it comes up.

Overall, I think Ikikoi is a good and underrated VN. As of the time of writing this review, Ikikoi has a 6.75 rating, which I think is significantly lower than what it deserves. I don't think it was a masterpiece, but it was absolutely a fun read. If you're someone who likes reading stories with intricate plot and liked SCA-JI's previous works, this is probably NOT the VN for you. However, if you enjoy light-hearted, comedic romance VNs, then I recommend checking this VN out.

< report >Nice review. I found the common route unbearable, but the game got much better after that and made me a fan of modern tsundere (Ryou <3)

< report >kinda sad to lose the point system, and was a bit weird to think this was the one who got the most upvotes with 0 dislike last I remember.

< report >#3 The fix is actually really dumb, you need to connect any kind of controller in your PC and the FPS will go back to normal as long as it is connected.
