| Review | I originally checked this game out when someone on Discord asked me what I thought about the writing. I went in with no prior exposure and no expectations. The answer I came back to them with was, it's pretty bad. Not "writer does not grasp proper grammar and word usage" bad, but "reads like the writer was inspired by a word-of-the-day calendar" bad. The dialogue is unnaturally sesquipedalian, which is to say that characters pepper their lines with words like "sesquipedalian" which practically nobody uses in real life. There's hardly any differentiation between how the different characters speak, it's all the same style of "nobody talks like this." The pacing is terrible, and the failure to make effective use of visual beats gives the impression that the writer had no sense of the difference between the media of visual novels and pure text. It feels like a waste to offer a negative review on Steam, since it's a free game, so at most it costs players a bit of their time to find out if it can win them over. But from a standpoint that's not concerned with how much the game costs, or how much trouble it is to check it out yourself and form your own opinion, my takeaway was that it's seriously lacking as a game. |
