ReviewEarthshine had a decent beginning of a story to it but I can’t say it did much with it. You follow two characters through an inhospitable desert, each in search of something and they kind of find what they’re after (but not really) and then the game ends. There is little in the way of buildup or ending. I don’t mind short games but this one felt like it should have taken a little more time to flesh the story out a bit. There are only a few choices but given the length I didn’t mind that. The art was decent but not mind blowing. The music was well done. The voice acting is only in, what I presume to be, Russian so I can’t judge that much as I just turned it off as I don’t speak the language.

I played Earthshine on Linux. It never crashed on me and I didn’t notice any spelling errors. You can save the game manually at any time and there are 96 save slots for that.

Game Engine: Ren’Py
Graphics API: OpenGL
Disk Space Used: 446 MB

GPU Usage: 0-29 %
VRAM Usage: 319-581 MB
CPU Usage: 1-4 %
RAM Usage: 1.6-1.7 GB

I wouldn’t say that Earthshine was a bad game but it did lack depth. I paid $1.11 USD for it and finished it in 34 minutes. The length didn’t bother me but the content did as it felt rushed.

My Score: 6.5/10
