ReviewWhatever you do, DO NOT READ CHAOS;CHILD BEFORE CHAOS;HEAD.

Chaos;Child is a SEQUEL to Chaos;Head.

Chaos;Child is a fantastic visual novel and by far my favourite among those I've already played. I would recommend it to anybody. That being said, although it is often advertised as a standalone story, this is far from true. It was mainly marketed as standalone for the sake of profitability and C;H's licensing issues. Besides spoiling C;H, as a THEMATIC sequel, C;C is not just narratively reliant on C;H but also (and more so) thematically reliant on it. If you strip a serious story like C;C of its thematic development, it's mediocre.

Thus to maximize enjoyment, please read C;H first.

I also recommend reading Steins;Gate and Robotics;Notes beforehand but they're not necessary. Only C;H is.

< report >Thank you, I will believe in you. I was planning to skip C;H because I didn't like the anime but I guess I really shouldn't do this.

< report >As someone who read C;C with absolutely no prior knowledge of C:H, it feels a little disingenuous to say it's necessary. While I'm sure there's plenty of references and prior world building that C;H establishes and C;C builds on, but it's very much it's own standalone story.Last modified on 2021-07-22 at 03:00
