ReviewEasily the best old denpa game out of those that I've read so far. I saw other people opinions, and I still remember reading Shizuku and Tsui no Sora, so I had kind of low expectations. These games might be entertaining but in the end Sayooshi did its job much better.

Sayooshi surprisingly reminded me about for elise. Even though you can predict some similarities since the games are created by the same person and developed by the same brand. Both games are about an adult man (an office worker or a teacher) that struggles with his daily routine and starts seeing nightmares which are slowly driving him crazy. But Sayooshi executes the concept in a much more interesting and entertaining way.

For example, the game surprised me with its use of foreshadowing. Usually, you see writers doing it lightly to not spoil the main reveal, but Sayooshi is pretty bold at it and isn't afraid of telling you a lot of information. This might sound boring, but the story made me keep my attention this way. I was constantly thinking about some lines, their real meaning, and how everything connects together. In the end, it's always fun when you understand that pretty much everything in the text might have some deeper meaning behind it.

The only weird thing here is the game's structure. All routes are important and each one helps to understand the protagonist better, but at the same time, there is quite a lot of repetition. The final two days are pretty much the same and make you read a lot of similar text even though some bits are still worth seeing. Mahiru suffered the most because of it because you learn everything about her even before starting the route. It could be done much better.

But I still enjoyed the game. It's a safe recommendation for people that enjoy denpa, and it also might be interesting for those who want something not really typical for eroge. Some people say how Sayooshi fails to impress nowadays, and this might be true, but I still believe that the game has a high enough quality to leave a good impression. It's surprisingly well-done for such an old title.
