Review | I have no idea why there are 10/10 reviews for this game, and I feel like this needs to be cleared up so that people who are looking for something new to read won't be misled by such blatant bias. The game is unfinished however I have read quite a lot of hours up to the last few updates (0.18 ish). I have since dropped this game since I lost interest entirely. I will attempt to put forth the good and the bad and the mistakes that led me to ultimately dropping the game. This is a shame because it does have some potential here and there. The good Some of the characters are genuinely interesting and enjoyable, they feature some pretty good writing as well. These would be Yumi, Sana, and Maya. These three stood out to me the most and I found them to be entertaining for different reasons. - Yumi is basically an I'm mad at everything trope, but it does not stop the interactions from being genuinely hilarious. - Sana is one of the few more heartwarming interactions that I experienced with a girl struggling to come out of her shell, and for once the MC is actually somewhat kind and helpful in these interactions. - Then there's Maya, I do not like this character but I like the conversations that are had between her and the MC. The greatest potential of the game was held in those conversations, that bit of mystery is refreshing. - The MC is an awful empty shell of a person. I actually think this is pretty interesting, a very surreal experience. You are left wondering how any single character can come to like him. I hated this character, which was of course by design. Since the rest of the characters did not stand out enough for me to warrant writing about them, and for the sake of not making my review a bigger bible than it already will be I won't write about each and every one of them. Humor - This novel actually gets off to a pretty decent start, the main story events and the MC persuing the characters I found pretty funny at times and entertaining enough for me to read for a while each time I opened up the game. Animations and E scenes etc - This game is an eroge & harem sim after all. Credit where credit is due, the scenes are pretty enjoyable. The comedy also pairs well with this too. Character Art - The characters are well made, and have multiple outfits and such. Interface - The information you can get about character routes, and your progress in the story is pretty useful. Progressing would be even harder without it. The bad Structure of story progression - By far the single most frustrating part of this entire game, you have to progress the story in extremely specific ways which really sucks the enjoyment out of it. The game becomes a chore/grind because of this and it only gets worse the further you go, and worse again with the introduction to the 'edgy' puzzle/horror scenes. A complete restructure would do this game wonders honestly. Structure of character routes - Just as messed up as the story progression, you can only progress small parts at a time of random characters based on whenever it was updated at the time. A huge improvement could be made here if it was all revisited and organized a bit better. I do not enjoy jigsaw puzzles when it comes to character routes. Just like the main story, it is a mess. If you are interested in certain characters, too bad you have to do a bunch of other ones just to continue reading and you won't be able to finish the other characters until you progress somewhere else and so on and so forth. Trying to stand out, but instead of being edgy it's just cringe - The gimmick of this game, happy scenes, or whatever. Random other strikethrough lines or alternative things. Basically just weird stuff. Made for the purpose of being scary or trying to screw with the mind of the reader, though for me it was more of a comedic thing where I just laughed at how bad these are. The plotline - What do I even say about this, I remember it just being intentionally cryptic to go along with the gimmick of being difficult and trying to confuse the reader, I did not buy this shallow attempt for a second. Music - Not much to say about the music, and that's why it's in this section Art (noncharacter) - Most of the art that is not character specific is pretty generic. Conclusion - This is the kind of game you can pick up and read if you are really bored and want a few laughs, or to enjoy a few e-scenes. After all, it's free, and the only reason my rating is not lower than it already is. - If you want a similar experience to this game without all the edgy fluff then just read majikoi, it's way funnier and does not have a stupidly complicated progression system for no reason. Update#2 - I was going to re-review this but now I wont be since someone else posted one and it appears that the game still suffers the same issues despite the major update. |
