|Review||First off all, this is not a "Full review" more like an "extended Mini review" because I ran out of characters xD|
The best Prologue and Common route from Hooksoft yet!
I very like that in this VN "Chilhood Friends" really means something they even show us in the prologue for quite sometime... Not like your typical VN where MC took Childhood Friend for granted without really much an explanation. Common route also pretty well fleshed out each of the heroine with a good amount of humor. The heroine routes rank from acceptable to good, nothing special but still good Fun.
My only gripes in this VN is how they structured it, you picked the Heroine very early (on the prologue part, so you only know the girls from their childhood) yet the branching is really far of after Common route, in a sense you started to know the heroine after you pick the choice (I thought it was somewhat odd). For the 1st or 2nd playthrough it was really fun! But after the 3rd one I realize that the common route only had very little variance for each route, only a couple different dialogue and the "Go home together" section.
I highly suggest you pick your favorites girl the first time and/or second time playthrough, as good as the common route is. After you read it for the 3rd, 4th or even 5th time it become boring... Also there's lack of Skip to next choices in this VN that add up to this problem.
From the first playthrough I easily gave it a 9, but after play all the routes I had to knock 1 or 2 points unfortunately..
Route Ranking IMO (highest to lowest) : Shizuru > Yuuna > Iku = Chisato > Tomari
Heroine Ranking IMO : Yuuna > Tomari > Shizuru > Iku > Chisato (I usually like Oneesan type but not really work for me in here)
Solid 8/10 for me,
maybe 7/10 if the heroine not really up to your taste.. IMO this VN worth at least reading the Prologue, Common Route, and 1 heroine route that you had interest with..

< report >I do honestly ponder on how you placed such a sweet, doting girl like Tomari last on your heroine ranking. She is the one I am trying to choose between Chisato and Iku as my favorite but maybe you've found Tomari's doting personality to be overly sappy? To each their own, in any case.
I also agree with how well the characters were fleshed out throughout the lengthy prologue and common route. Even though I am only past the point where the protagonist had finished dating Renbu, I’ve been enjoying this wholesome visual novel so far. Of course, my opinion on the story and heroines can change by the time I finish so I’ll have to reserve sweeping judgements for now.Last modified on 2021-10-20 at 04:44

< report >Hi, thanks for the reply!
Tomari is in my top 2 character wise, i also like the sweet and doting heroine (added heroine ranking).
But i just didn't like the twist in her route, when comparing her route to the other routes kinda weak IMO, but hey maybe it's just me.. xDLast modified on 2021-10-20 at 21:52

< report >Now it makes sense. Tomari placed last only story-wise and not character-wise -- thanks for clarifying with the two different sets of ranking.
I had planned to save Tomari as one of the ‘best for last’ but now I’m worried that I could be disappointed by her route as well. I’ll just have to see how it turns out for myself.
Your opinion on the onee-san archetype here is understandable since Chisato is initially more feisty and mischievous compared to the ideal mature and nurturing onee-san type that many seem to prefer. I am personally fond of Chisato but it's hard to say whether she'd be able to outcharm an onee-san like Tachibana Iori from Yubisaki Connection.
Overall, this was a good and informative "extended Mini review". Much appreciated.Last modified on 2021-10-24 at 02:00

< report >Yeah, Chisato not your typical mature onee-san type... But still enjoyable, if you asked me kinda tough to beat Iori from Yubisaki xD
Cheers mate.. :D

< report >okay, was wondering why'd you put Tomari on the last place, so I read her route since I like her anyway.
At the point where the MC ask her on a date for the first time and the way she answers is a red flag. looked at her tags, now I get it.
Sometimes, a predictable story is better than a story with an unneeded twist.

< report >Hi, thanks for the reply!
Glad if you enjoyed Tomari route, i just found it really surprising and odd the twist in her route feels like come out of nowhere. Just like you said, the way she answered after the confession a bit of red flag.
Since i played her route first, I didn't see any hints for what her route be like but, after played the others route, there's a slight hint at the common route for what happened with Tomari post MC moving out (when the MC noticed that Tomari cooking mainly use her right hand now, even though she use her left on the past ). Her route is still enjoyable for me but i prefer the other routes. But hey maybe it just me..
It is interesting for seeing other opinion, once again thanks for the discussion!

< report >this looks to me like the usual "read the route of the heroine you like and then quit" type of deal, thanks for the heads up.

< report >Good review, and i agree completely with it. It's nice that Hooksoft, of all the companies, actually describes a childhood for childhood related characters. It is a bit long but it's a perfect character buildup. And yet the actual relationship buildup does gets stale as time goes, it's just a copy paste of one another.
I like how you vote Yuuna as the best girl above the rest, i agree as well lulLast modified on 2022-04-04 at 02:14

In a sense, yeah. Not really had much replay value if you had little interest with other heroines, but the route that you choose will be an enjoyable read!

Thanks! You summed it up perfectly! The character build up was great, but the relationship build up not so much.
Good to see another Yuuna fan! xD
