ReviewIf I had to use a word to describe the feeling I get from Summer Pockets, it's 'shallow.' These routes were far too short (maybe 6 - 7 hours each) for the protagonist and heroines to form particularly rich relationships; while I cried several times while reading, the tears felt cheap and manufactured, as if the writers set out explicitly to make me cry as quickly as possible and having achieved that they packed up and went home. Sure, they got me, but these feelings aren't going to stay with me the way the feelings from, say, Clannad, stays with me. I really wanted to love Summer Pockets, but after finishing it I can't really say I did. It's a fine read that does a lot of things well, but that's all -- it's not the amazing read I hoped it would be.

< report >You just perfectly summarized my thoughts on this VN!
The "feels" felt too artificial and cheap. It's like seeing a puppy cry on the rain while sad violin music plays, people will obviously feel sad, but not because they're close to the puppy, but because the scenario is sad in itself.
And as you said these kind of feels don't stay. I still find myself thinking about Clannad often (and not even the climax moments, but small scenes, quotes, characters, etc). Sadly, I can't say the same about SP

< report >Yeah, I kinda feel the same way. SP was basically the generic store-brand version of Clannad.
