ReviewCaptures the Zeitgeist of the Internet Age. GOTY, or even GOTD?

A fresh new kamige.

This kamige looks like Princess Maker combined with Casual Romance Club / its evil twin Houkago Mania Club, combined with Progressbar95.
It is a raising simulator, not a 'novel' per se (unless you consider it an epistolary novel.)
There are around 20 endings and lots of replay value, funny dialogue and secret Easter eggs.

Obviously the menhera yumekawaii retro-fancy aesthetics are a big pull for many people.
The pixel art is intricate in pretty pastels. There are oodles of fun animations.

Ame/KAngel is very cute. A not-so-glamourised, realistically-painted portrayal of a BPD e-girl who has lived her life on the internet. She reminds me very much of a girl I know, and even a little of myself...

I enjoyed watching and reading the tweets and streams very much.
They are often very funny, and have some fun references and parodies for us otaku out there.
I truly enjoyed the multiple PriPara references in Otaku Talk Level 1. "み~んなともだち!み~んなオタク!"
PriPara is my favourite animation.
There is also a Kaiji reference, and there are multiple Sayooshi references as well, the previous VN I completed...!

I still haven't gotten all CGs yet...! I'd like to see the dates in every area in Tokyo. It would be enjoyable for completionists.

The English translation is fantastic, the slang is very true-to-life, true-to-internet.
It makes you reflect on how similar 2ch and 4chan really are. Anonymity brings out the darkness in everyone's hearts, even the polite Japanese.
I enjoyed switching to-and-fro between the English and the Japanese, which is easy to do in the configuration settings, aptly named 'Control Panel'.

I was able to get 20 of 30 achievements on my own without a walkthrough. Including the rarest one.

My favourite ending would have to be 'Welcome to My Religion'.

Make no mistake, this is an undisputed kamige.

10/10

< report >@1: It's a meme game without anything else. Those sell. It's not really good, but you know how memes work. Most of the game is actually literally random, so there's not really much of character development, consistency or anything else like that. The gameplay part is also pretty bad and too stand alone. Didn't get the goal at the end? Game over, without any story lead in or whatever.

BUT. It got memes. For some that is apparently even worth giving it a 10 out of 10.

I'd honestly not even call a visual novel. It's mostly a simulation game, with no real flowing story, but only snippets. But that's another story. So yeah, it's not.. really a visual novel with tons of reviews. It's a simulation game with memes right from the start till the end.Last modified on 2022-01-27 at 09:27

Captures the Zeitgeist of the Internet Age
That just means it's going to be something people look and laugh at in 5 years for been horribly dated (or maybe even 2 to 3 years considering how fast internet culture evolves).
GOTY, or even GOTD?
Like anyone will even be talking about this in 10 years time.Last modified on 2022-01-27 at 09:44

< report >#4 Most memes date out. Longcat is just one of the few that more or less survived the passage of time.
