ReviewNot sure what I was expecting, but I had a lot of fun with it.

I had never played any of alicesoft's games before but I knew of them pretty well from buzz about the Rance series. I don't think by any stretch that anyone is going to say Evenicle is a high-minded masterpiece but I like that it challenged and played with its own setting a lot more than what I had expected which was a pleasant surprise, and the peek into its lore made me more than curious about the world-building in the rance series as well.

There were a lot of moments that made me chuckle or smile and shake my head, a lot of the characters were fun and likable and the story was just engaging enough to keep me coming back but not really so convoluted that it wasn't easy to take a break from. Honestly, I played it on and off for a while as a sort of cooldown game because it was a bit brainless and lighthearted, and for that purpose it was really excellent to unwind with for a bit at the end of the day. The combat wasn't too difficult, and even in the face of some of the darker moments Aster kept it very lighthearted and silly. It was just kind of... a feel good game? I had fun, so thumbs up. Also the art is super cute.

As a final aside, I really liked the dynamic between Aster and his wives. It was so SO nice that they pulled off a sort of harem situation and DIDN'T fall into having them all be hyper-jealous of each other, jealousy honestly exhausts me to read about. They're just a big happy horny family unit in their way, it's kind of wholesome.
