ReviewIn my opinion, simply the worst novel I've ever read so far. The protagonist is too pathetic, getting strung along by the heroines and comes off as masochistic with how he gets verbally abused by the heroines. Toa is especially cold towards the protagonist and still remained the same even after going out with him. I like the romance genre and this is by far the most unrealistic. Act like this protagonist and you'll never get girls in real life. Even psychologists and pick-up artists will agree.

< report >I mean wagamama definitely gets more praise then it should "typically" but its not quite as bad as you make it out but then again when a person complains about a VN being unrealistic and I can see they gave riddle joker a 10 I can simply only laugh at them and question literally any VN you have voted on.

< report >It's just me being biased since I usually just base my votes on how protagonists and heroines react regardless of the story. I just don't like novels where most of the time where it feels like the protagonist is just being strung around. I don't really want want to get into the story and other factors so much unless we're talking about stories not focused on romance.

< report >It's especially aggravating to get wimpy protagonists who get completely dominated and constantly attacked by the heroines in visual novels. I can overlook it in anime but in VNs, the protagonists are typically not shown and the heroines look at the camera directly while abusing the protagonists so it feels a lot more personal. Doesn't help that most VNs are written from a first person point of view and a lot of protagonists have dumb masochistic thoughts that make me physically cringe to read through.

< report >#3 Exactly. If this was me as a kid, I wouldn't mind it. But as someone who studied psychology and pick-up artistry for years, it's unbearable to read through this. It's too pathetic and I just can't help but compare how relationships in fictional stories develop to how relationships in real life develop.Last modified on 2022-03-01 at 05:29

< report >As a person who studies psychology myself I have no idea what your point is there since it makes absolutely 0 sense. As someone else mentioned don't pretend to understand how all relationships in real life develop. You see in real life this type of person is more or less an introvert and there are a shit ton of them around in real life and many have girlfriends and I can imagine some are pathetic.

Also being biased to a degree is always fair since everyone has a different opinion but considering your bias is basically making any pathetic MC a low rated VN, you should likely be looking elsewhere and not in the moege VN area..... since its a common as hell thing. Nevermind the fact that in real life high school romance tends to be pretty damn pathetic on both sides of the equation.

< report >I don't really care about realism but I hate this kind of protagonist because of how masochistic it feels. Most moeges are built around self-insertion to cater to the Japanese crowd who usually buy these games and I hate self-inserting into these trash MCs, which these games basically force you to do due to the heavy first person perspective like I explained in #3.
you should likely be looking elsewhere and not in the moege VN area
There are some galge like Hello Lady or Fruit of Grisaia with strong-willed MCs, so it's not impossible to do it. No hate if you like this kind of protagonist though, just wish I had more options to choose from.

< report >#5 not sure what kind of psychology you've been studying because I'm pretty sure of what I know about the psychology of attraction. I've been in a relationship multiple times and I know for a fact that these kinds of MCs are who you definitely shouldn't be if you want to make your love life more fruitful. Think about why Japan has such a low birthrate nowadays and why establishing intimate relationships are much harder than they should be, it's largely because garbage protagonists like these inspire guys in real life that this is how they should act and not just visual novels but a lot of romance shows and movies in general as well. Ironically, think about why bad boys get girls while that shy, nice guy in the group seems like he doesn't even exist. I know full well that the way I score this is more biased than the rest and as I said, I can't help but compare how relationships develop from fiction to reality. You should try to search for the names Kezia Noble and Bobby Rio on the internet. Psychology as many categories and I'm not sure how much you've studied the attraction part of it.

Edit: and yeah for #6 The Grisaia series was actually my personal favorite since it's something that's one of the closest to being realistic on how relationships transition from being mere acquaintances to being couples. I apologize to the developers since I can't help but base my scores on just how I see the MC and how the heroines react to conversations and actions but as I said before, that's just for romance focused stories.Last modified on 2022-03-01 at 11:15

< report >Japan has low birthrates for many reasons that are fairly baffling to other countries and has almost nothing to do with this lol. I will say that while one shouldn't want to me this type of MC thats where almost all people at least start and if you think not you are living in your own fantasy.

Also I somehow knew you would bring up the bad boys get girls topic (I almost mentioned it within my last post). While that is a fact, you definitely don't want to be that person either since the other thing associated with those relationships are they don't last at all. If you are a bad boy type then you do you but its not something to strive for either. Also the good old nice guys get nothing thinking, honestly reading what you are writing is pretty funny and comical :). P.S. the only part of a "bad boy" you should learn is the confidence part and that has nothing to do with being a bad boy at all lol. Also if you think confidence makes some people any less of a really nice person or still pathetic in their core (which is most cases) you are sorely mistaken.

#6 personally I don't care either way how the MC is unless they are that horrific (which doesn't happen often). The pathetic MC while it is a trope is fairly realistic of how high school romance is between people. well the masochistic part is simply for the JP audience and you can't do much about that, our say has no effect on it hence the self-inserting of the MC also. Also yes there are a few with strong-willed MC's but they don't exist much due to who these are catering to.

Grisaia is not realistic for normal romance at all. It has certain extreme realistic implications but definitely not the normal.

< report >As I said, the cause for the decline of birthrates and why relationships are so hard is largely because of these kinds of stories, not that it's the only reason. I said bad boys get girls more than nice guys not because they're bad but because they have traits that make them attractive such as, as you mentioned, confidence and also the fact that there are some of them that aren't being too available like most nice guys, making them more desirable. Nice guys have traits that can make relationships long lasting but they are completely lackluster on too many characteristics that they need. Also, it is actually natural for most men to start being nervous if they're not used to women, even some of the best pick-up artists and naturally attractive men once had slim to none chances. I was actually a needy and nice guy before and never wanted to become a bad boy, in fact, I despise them. I guess, I shouldn't use bad boys as an example, let's just say, confident, alpha men who are mature and know what they're doing.

Edit: Yeah well Grisaia isn't realistic in the sense that it's literally how romance should go per se but it's more in the way how some implications in conversations and how they interact with one another were portrayed.Last modified on 2022-03-01 at 12:24

< report >The vast majority of high school romcom protagonists are every bit as pathetic and indecisive as this one. A select few are better, and some are a whole lot worse. There's really nothing particularly different about this protagonist from just about any other I've seen in a high school moe game setting.

To rank a VN this low based on the behavior of the protagonist, to me says that maybe moe games might not be the right genre for you. The general plot of every single one of them is that there's a bunch of incredibly cute girls who, for no real reason whatsoever, all have some sort of romantic interest in an otherwise unremarkable, indecisive main character who is typically completely average in every way. Just like this protagonist. Heck, this one is actually quite a bit more proactive in pursuing relationships with the heroines... in most VNs, the girl has to figuratively tie the protagonist down and force him to accept her confession, since there's zero chance of him ever realizing the girl's feelings on his own, let alone confessing his first. Nearly every single protagonist in the moege genre has the donkan personality trait.

While I agree that the weak protagonist trope is a bit annoying, it's something I've learned to accept as the only other option is to quit anime waifus completely.Last modified on 2022-09-20 at 04:30

< report >#11 its flonne as the self proclaim expert, he is just another Andrew Tate type that is not uncommon on here, they tend to pop up once in awhile. Anyone that is claiming to be anything special/expert on database for vn like this for dating or sex related screams hilarity to me.
