| Review | There is little to no reason to play this version. Rance 02 is not a remake as Rance 01 was, but rather a remaster, and it is akin to playing Rance II with visual mods and typo/script fixes. Nonetheless, Rance II can still be charming (I personally think the art style has its charm); when compared to Rance I, the upgrade on the writing quality is clear and the puzzles tend to be a bit more interesting. Sadly, there are still sections that are extremely repetitive or fumbling around in the dark, and the spike in difficulty (through high health/def of bosses and enemies) makes the actual turn-based battles of this game extremely boring, especially later on. Only play this if you find this art style particularly eye-catching or something; otherwise, go to Rance 02. It is the same game. |
