ReviewLeaving all that divine stuff aside - not saying it is bad - I often had the feeling this VN could be described as Fureraba ~Friend to Lover~'s little sister.
Despite the premise / approach being different in the beginning, KamiYaba soon gave me very similar vibes. Both MCs want to get a girlfriend. Their way of going about achieving their goal differs in the beginning, sure, but become very similar not very far into the VNs.

Our MC, Hajime, desperately collected charms from shrines all over the country because he wanted to fall in love.
Once our cute little goddess, Urara, appears and tells him what's going on and what he has to do in order to avoid remaining a virgin for the rest of his life, the story unfolds.
After being told about his 3 destined partners he studies his ass off to transfer into the school said partners attend.
Of course he achieves his goal. At his new school he finally meets his destined partners one after another and tries to get closer to them. He is also reunited with his cousin and his childhood friend at the same school who are very happy to see him again.

Hajime is quite insecure when it comes to dating and young women. Thus, his effort to get closer to the heroines sometimes felt very awkward and seemed clumsy at times. But there was a reason why it never bothered me. During KamiYaba I had the impression that the characters involved were actually highschool students and acted, thought and reacted appropiate for their age. No over the top ideas and solutions how to solve issues and such. Of course, such iusses never were part of the plot in the first place.
So, the cast acting as one would expect for their age and the lack of troubles was a very pleasent change of pace.
Talking, spending time during class, during lunch breaks, on days off and learning about them are what brings Hajime closer to his chosen partner. Very similar to Fureraba ~Friend to Lover~. I do not dislike this similarity at all. I had a blast with Fureraba and thus, being reminded of my good time during Fureraba in a similar, yet not in the same way was very enjoyable.

After the common route the reader is presented a choice - choose one of the 3 destined partners (Suzuna, Nanami and Yukari). Only after completing one of these will unlock the other 3 heroines (Mao, Urara and Hanayo) which originally were not destined partners.

However, the VN is not entirely drama-free. On some routes Hajime has to deal with some type of issue e.g. Suzuna being an idol and the difficulties of having a boyfriend or Urara being a goddess but it is nothing that doesn't get resolved rather quickly. None of the drama felt too heavy. All in all this VN had a very light feeling to it.
Only Urara's confession felt out of place and was too little focussed on to have left an impact on me. Once I read it, it didn't stick in my mind. I just kept reading forgetting about her confession.

On the other hand, the common route was over rather fast, which brought one issue with it - the time the reader is offered to get to know the 3 inital heroines is limited. I think it would have been better if the CR were longer and each heroine had more screentime. I think this would have had a positive effect on the character's development.

Nevertheless, while reading a specific route the other characters don't disappear which, fortunately, gave them room for develpoment. Each and every character plays an important role, even on routes which are not their own. The importance of friendship plays a very significant role in this VN.
Only one heroine falls flat in this regard, being Mao. She is listed as a side character for good reasons, her screentime is very limited while not on her route. Even Hanayo has a lot more screentime because she is Nanami's bodyguard. Hence, Mao, while being very cute, never stands a chance against the other 5 heroines.

Hajime soon realizes one major issue, which is the same for all 3 inital heroines, namely their status/personality and the so-called Sanctuary. Suzuna, Nanami and Yukari spend their time on the school's rooftop. The other students know that. Therefore, an unspoken rule is "established" - No other student enters the rooftop.
Hajime ignores that rule and starts spending his time up there too. The way I see it the rooftop is a metaphor for lonliness as neither Nanami nor Suzuna asked the students to leave the rooftop to them. They want to spend their time with friends and experience and ordinary school-life, but as no one else enters the roof apart from the main cast, it is really difficult for them. Hajime decides to do something against the status of the rooftop.

The way I see it, in the end this part of the VN felt like it wasn't thought through enough as it often felt lacking seriousness and importance.

The destiny-count is another part which wouldn't hurt the VN at all if it weren't there. While it could be viewed as a small feature, it tried to act like a serious part of the plot which it isn't. Hajime realizing getting closer to the girls without a number appearing above their heads from time to time would have worked the same if not better.

My last critique of KamiYaba is that Urara tells Hajime during their first meeting that he only has 1 year to enter a relationship with a destined partner. He then spends 11 months studying for the entrance exame of the school. So, 1 month remains. But from then on that 1 month doesn't play any role anymore. Only phrases like 'A few days later', 'Later on' and such are used which take away any meaning that 1 month should have had because any sense of time just disappears completely. In this instance, I have to admit that I don't know whether it is the translation's fault or the writer's, but it felt like it was the writer's fault.

The heroines:
A diverse selections of characters is presented here.
I like all of them, their personalities and their development. Suzuna didn't interest me that much in the beginning only to become of one my 3 favourite heroines. With Yukari it is the other way around. She seemed interesting in the beginning but in the end she just wasn't that enjoyable for me.
All of their routes kinda use the same safe formula which works fine. Each heroine and their corresponding route differ from one another. The H is very hot.

Personal rating:
Urara > Suzuna > Nanami > Yukari > Hanayo > Mao

Routes:
Urara > Suzuna > Nanami > Mao > Hanayo > Yukari

This VN offers very cute and diverse heroines, awesome comedy and very good romance with little drama which always results in a good end. The VAs did a very good job bringing their character to life. The visuals are also top tier.
I had a very good time reading it and can only recommend it to anyone who felt intruiged with what is written above!

Lastly... Some tags assigned to this VN and to Urara...
I would say the tag 'Brother/Sister Incest and all the tags going hand in hand with this one should be removed as they are wrongly assigned. Urara is NOT Hajime's blood-related sister as the act of his parents giving birth to her never occurs. She is supposed to be, but it never happens which isn't even explained any further... Therefore, Urara doesn't engage in incest.
Furthermore, she isn't subject of a marriage proposal and never wears a ring, NOT counting the ring attached to the end of the strap she recieves from Hajime during their date! I can overlook Hajime and Urara being described as 'brother and sister' as they act like they were but actually are not. Hajime himself says that very often AND during Urara's route everyone is told that these two are not related by blood making their relationship a proper one. That's how I see the whole thing...
