ReviewLove the characters, the literary aesthetic, and a lot of the vibes emanating from this piece, and sat through tons of horrific rape sequences hoping that in the end, it would all be worth it, but ultimately it didn't manage to conjure up enough good-will in the end for me to really love it. The game having kamige status doesn't really help, as it ended up making my expectations completely out of wack. As someone who has no interest in sexual content in VNs, their constant inturruptions really destroyed the pacing for me. It's decent, and I'd still recommend it to those who think it sounds interesting, just... be prepared. Because I definitely wasn't. You WILL need mind-bleach. And then you'll wish you had some more.

< report >> You WILL need mind-bleach

Is this a discouragement or enticement?

< report >@arturklesun: Honestly, it's up to you. I personally found it discouraging, although in the end I guess it was definitely part of the experience and I couldn't imagine this game *not* being disgusting and extreme to a ridiculous point. I know for sure there are people for whom this game has a lot of enticement.

< report >How I wish I knew... it's very frustrating, because this is a truly unique experience and all the horrific content somewhat adds to that given that it's the kind of thing I would just not engage with elsewhere, but it's also the kind of thing I would never in a million years recommend to anyone. The need for mind-bleach is very, very real.

< report >Hey man, since I saw on your comment that you don't care about sexual content in VNs, could you recommend some good ones in which there are least amount of them?
Every recommendation I see is filled with such scenes
edit: Oof, I found out there is a "No Sexual Content" tag here...I'm pretty stupid.
Still, if there's something you'd like to recommend please let me knowLast modified on 2021-05-14 at 07:01

< report >I relate to you, I'm not into VNs for the 18+ content for the most part. I'm not asexual, I just hate sex scenes 99% of the time unless they are important and/or tastefully done. Although I've played nukige before.
In regards to SubaHibi, I found pretty much all the characters horrible, especially Takuji, and the VN was hard to understand in a bad way (I've consumed media that was nonsensical or had little plot, but this was on a different level).

I've read other extreme VNs that left me a better impression. I even found Euphoria better than SubaHibi and I never finished that one because the second act was too contrived for me.

Higeka, I'd recommend Katawa Shoujo if you haven't read it yet. It has minimal H (not very explicit) and you can turn it off if you want.Last modified on 2021-08-17 at 03:30

< report >This is (so far) the best VN I've ever read, however most of the ero is definitely not my cup of tea. It's not supposed to be jerkoff material and anyone approaching it as such will be sorely disappointed.

< report >>VN was hard to understand in a bad way

It's really inaccessible unless you've already had exposure to some of the underlying philosophy. It's on par with reading an actual philosophy textbook, albeit more entertaining, but still probably about that level of difficulty.

Edit: I was disappointed in the VN at first, I was sold on it as "horror" which is really a strange category to place it. It has horror elements but the goal of the VN is not to terrify the reader. It's on my second and third read-throughs that I've really appreciated it, and after finishing my first full run-through (I very nearly didn't finish it, I stopped for a couple months before the story really tied itself together, thinking I was reading an incoherent mess).Last modified on 2022-01-09 at 03:58
