Reviewit was pretty good, but let me just make it simple and compare it to alternative. (I don't care if you think this isn't supposed to be the same as alternative.) This has more political intrigue as others have pointed out, but for me it didn't really go anywhere too interesting. maybe i tuned out a bit, sue me. I feel like some twists actually didn't affect the course of the story. My main problem is that: obviously in the Unlimited timeline humanity is in a horrible position, but that wasn't really emotionally communicated well at many parts. It felt like the stakes were actually going down as conflicts were resolved, it seemed like people were working together more, I'm sure this will go backwards in Resonative blah blah

I think when the story was getting serious there were still many scenes of people talking that felt too light-hearted. I think they used a lot of muv-luv OG music where similar scenes in alternative would have music that portrays the gravity of the situations the characters are about to face. They can be talking about the same shit but that music really sets the tone differently. And except for mostly one, many of the action scenes felt a little unserious, like I could feel the plot armor. I didn't feel like anyone would have the ability to die suddenly. It's like the writers are directly saying which scenes have a chance of important characters dying and which don't.

The most interesting dynamic is between Hibiki/Yuzuka/Eren, and it's probably better than some of the main cast relationships in alternative, considering how much less time there is to set them up.

But just personally, I wanted a much darker story from this. YES this is my outside expectation but I really wanted the story how how fucked up shit gets if Alternative IV fails, and shit is fucked up, but it didn't feel like it at many parts. best part was probably when *that* bomb dropped
