ReviewI was kind of worried that Inside Jennifer would limit me to having Jennifer be either a slut or a weak person who gets steam rolled into bad situations. I’m sure those exist but on my first play through I was able to find a route that actually made her into a confident bad ass which both surprised me and made me happy. Unlike with Summer with Mia where I couldn’t find any character worth caring about or rooting for Inside Jennifer had much better writing and solved that problem. Several characters were well fleshed out and were decent people or at least more complex. There were still a few weak points such as I found only one male character who wasn’t either a sadist; an idiot; a pervert; or an asshole. All but one existed to either try to hit on Jennifer; brutalize her; or just be idiots. To add to the weak points of the story I will add that when Jennifer tries to blackmail someone she doesn’t even provide proof or a specific accusation at all yet the person bends to her will. There were also plot points that went nowhere such as I am pretty sure there was a female stalker or something like that but they just stopped showing up and nothing happened from it. There was also a seeming gap in the progression of Laurie as a love interest as Jennifer goes from being angry at her and not wanting to talk to her to dating her without anything to fill the gap and explain why. The art and models were fantastic as were the animations. There were a decent amount of of choice in the game but I felt like there were several situations I would have liked to have an input on that were linear. The music was decent but sparingly used. The main menu was fantastic though and had more polish and presentation to it than most games in this genre. The voice acting was pretty good overall although I will say that only voicing Jennifer looks odd in practice. I know voicing the whole game would have needed a much larger budget but when only one character speaks on screen it just looks weird to me. I will also say that the pacing felt a bit off later in the game as it seems to go from mid story to the end rather quickly.

I played Inside Jennifer on Linux. It never crashed and I didn’t notice any bugs. I did see three spelling errors though as well I saw that in one scene the wrong name for the character was displayed as it said “Laurie” where it should have said “Luke”. You can manually save the game whenever you want and there are fifty four save slots.

Overall I would say that Inside Jennifer was an improvement over Inceton’s previous games. It fixed some of the previous issues I had with Summer of Mia. The story was interesting but with some problems. The visuals were great as was the presentation. There were enough choices to make me happy although it could have used more. I paid $13.49 CAD and finished my first play through in three hours and ten minutes. I’d say that is great value. If you enjoy AVN’s I’d recommend Inside Jennifer as a solid game.

< report >FYI, the time vote you add should represent the time it takes to complete all routes and endings, and not just a single playthrough.
