ReviewThis is a fantastic and brief visual novel that lays the foundation for greater works to come in the future from Type-Moon. My exposure to Type-Moon at this point is extremely limited. My only experience with any of their works is playing through Tsukihime -A Piece of Blue Glass Moon-. Coming into this, I didn't expect it to be at as high of a bar as Tsukihime, which became from favorite VN last year after reading it. I was blown away though. The effort to make the story as engaging as possible especially in the partially animated action scenes is truly remarkable. The music leaves a lasting impression. The visuals, beyond the fancy animations, are exceptional. The three main characters all grow on you. And, while the main story here is very short, especially considering the amount of side-content, but it feels like FINALLY I've found a VN that doesn't overstay it's welcome. That is, until the side stories, which beyond the ones featuring Alice, are rarely hits and quite a few misses. The final story does make for an enjoyable, though lengthy closing story. What I would have criticized as lack of side-character developments, almost seems justified in their use in the final story, which seemed closer to something from Umineko cross with Persona-style light-hearted character interactions that would deserve a small fan-disc rather than a continuation of the Mahoutsukai story.

Don't delay - read this one. Type-Moon is now 2/2 for me, and quickly turning me into a fan-boy.
