#3 by monado-boy 2020-12-08 at 21:12 | < report >It is a made up word, but the correct romanisation for it is with a K as opposed to a C (idk why Crunchyroll mispelt it in the anime) |
#4 by Mutsuki 2020-12-08 at 21:57 | < report >#3, there is no such thing as a "correct romanisation" for a gibberish word... except for maybe a IPA transcription of it. Someone with no idea how to say the word would get the same result with both so isn't it fine either way? |
#5 by monado-boy 2020-12-08 at 22:40 | < report >There is a correct romanisation though, other wise the "epk-sg" mail address doesn't make sense. The "sg-epk" is written like that in the Japanese version of Steins;Gate too. epk meaning El Psy Kongroo. |
#6 by Mutsuki 2020-12-09 at 00:44 | < report >#5, still kinda tenous imo. it's just the first letters of the katakana written form. if it were something that started with チ (chi), ジ (ji) or something like that the initials would have a T and Z in them respectively because they'd use Nihon-Shiki for the romanisation in the Japanese version, at which point they'd have to change it in the translation or it'd make no sense (or more likely they'd just ignore it and pretend it makes sense)
I'll give it to you though that a K would definitely work better in this case but it could easily have not worked (which is kinda what i meant to say in the first place).Last modified on 2020-12-09 at 00:46 |
